BMS Daisy Chain¶
This document outlines the design and operational details of the Battery Management System (BMS) Daisy Chain configuration. The BMS Daisy Chain system allows for the sequential connection of multiple battery packs, facilitating coordinated charging, monitoring, and error handling.

Process Definition¶
- CAN communication of all BMS packs
- Power connection of all BMS packs (sequential connection of charger racks)
- Lowest set(s) should turn on after button engage sequence (green LEDs)
- Other set(s) should become available and wait for correct charging voltage (orange)
- Charging may start when all sets are connected and lights are up
Limitations¶
- Tested for 3 packs
- Maximum of 10 other sets can be recognized by the Firmware
- No remove of packs during charge
- No add of packs during charge
Error Handling¶
- No faulty operation should destroy BMS packs
- Error detection is always active (e.g. overcurrent / overvoltage detection)
- Turn off, then on is the expected user error handling
